2017 Five Year Economic Plan Review Conference

DPRK state media reported on December 29, 2017 a joint conference held in Pyongyang on December 28, 2017 which included officials of the Party, state, economy and armed forces. In attendance were State Affairs Commission vice chair and Premier Pak Pong Ju [Pak Pong-chu], Minister of the People’s Armed Forces Gen. Pak Yong Sik [Pak Yo’ng-sik], WPK Vice Chairman O Su Yong [O Su-yo’ng], WPK Vice Chairman An Jong Su [An Cho’ng-su], State Planning Commission Chairman and DPRK Vice Premier Ro Tu Chol [Ro Tu-ch’o’l], WPK Vice Chairman Choe Hwi [Ch’oe Hwi], WPK Vice Chairman Pak Thae Dok [Pak T’ae-dok] and immediate past WPK Vice Chairman and WPK Munitions Industry Department Director Ri Man Gon [Ri Man-ko’n].

At the conference they reviewed the “year’s work for implementing the five-year strategy for national economic development.” They also “analyzed and reviewed the successes and defects in this year’s work for carrying out the tasks, set forth by respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un in his New Year Address.”

Pak Pong Ju gave a report in which he “recalled that the Supreme Leader in his New Year Address advanced the tasks for accelerating the victorious advance of socialism with the great spirit of self-reliance and self-development as the dynamic force and brought about great national auspicious events, especially significant events, one after anotherf,” and “referred to the proud achievements the army and people of the DPRK made through an all-out campaign in the spirit of self-reliance and self-development to attain the goals for this year set by the Party. All the successes made in this year’s drive are a brilliant fruition of the respected Supreme Leader’s distinguished and sagacious guidance.” He then “stressed the need to victoriously attain the goals of the five-year strategy for national economic development set forth by the Party.” After his report officials of the national economy “took the floor.”
