DPRK state media reported on November 7 (Saturday) that Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) attended a commemorative photo-op with participants in the 7th national meeting of Korean People’s Army [KPA] military education officers. The photo-op occurred at Ku’msusan Memorial Palace of the Sun in Pyongyang. Also in attendance were VMar Hwang Pyong So (Director of the KPA General Political Department), Gen. Pak Yong Sik (Minister of the People’s Armed Forces), Gen. Ri Yong Gil (Chief of the KPA General Staff), Col. Gen. So Hong Chang (Director of the General Staff Operations Bureau and 1st Vice Chief of the KPA General Staff), Lt. Gen. Ryom Chol Song (Deputy Director of the KPA General Political Department) and other senior KPA command staff.
The meeting participants greeted Kim Jong Un’s arrival with enthusiastic applause and he returned their greetings with a “warm salute.” Jong Un noted that the meeting “marked an important occasion of historic significance in glorifying President Kim Il Sung’s (Kim Il-so’ng) and leader Kim Jong Il’s (Kim Cho’ng-il) undying ideas of military education and their feats forever and ushering in the greatest heyday of increasing military capability by decisively raising the qualitative level of military education by modeling the whole army on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.” As he posed for the commemorative photos, Jong Un “warmly” congratulated the participants “on their successful meeting.”
According to KCNA, Kim Jong Un “expressed conviction that military education officers would steadily improve teaching contents and methods as required by the Party’s idea of military strategy and tactics and Chuch’e-based war methods and modern war and thus discharge their mission and duty in training all cadets as field commanding officers and stalwart officers of the powerful elite revolutionary army.”
