Wreath Laying Ceremonies Held

Wreath laying ceremonies were held at the Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery, the Patriotic Martyrs’ Cemetery and Fatherland Liberation [Korean] War Martyrs’ Cemetery on Pyongyang on September 8 (Saturday) to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the DPRK.

Supreme People’s Assembly [SPA] Presidium President Kim Yong Nam (Kim Yo’ng-nam), Workers’ Party of Korea [WPK] Vice Chairman and WPK Propaganda and Agitation (Publicity and Information) Department Director Pak Kwang Ho (Pak Kwang-ho), WPK Vice Chairman and WPK Cadres’ Affairs Department Director Kim Phyong Hae (Kim P’yo’ng-hae), Korean People’s Army [KPA] General Political Bureau Director Gen. Kim Su Gil (Kim Su-kil), Pyongyang City WPK Committee Chairman Kim Nung O (Kim Nu’ng-o) and DPRK Vice Premier Kim Tok Hun (Kim Tok-hun), among others, visited the Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery on Mt. Taesong.

Floral wreaths sent by Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n), and joint wreath presentations from the WPK Central Committee, the DPRK State Affairs Commission, the SPA Presidium and the DPRK Cabinet were placed at the wreath-laying stand at the entrance.  A KPA brass band played solemn music and the members of the central leadership paid their respects.  After, Kim Yong Nam and the other senior officials watched a brief march-past ceremony of KPA service members.

DPRK Premier and State Affairs Commission Vice Chairman Pak Pong Ju (Pak Pong-chu), WPK Vice Chairman and WPK Munitions Industry Department Director Thae Jong Su (T’ae Cho’ng-su), WPK Vice Chairman and WPK Light Industry Department Director An Jong Su (An Cho’ng-su), WPK Vice Chairman for General Affairs Pak Thae Dok (Pak T’ae-tok), Minister of State Security Col. Gen. Jong Kyong Thae (Cho’ng Kyo’ng-t’aek), DPRK Vice Premier Ri Ju O (Ri Chu-o) and Worker-Peasant Red Guards’ Commanding Officer Ri Yong Rae (Ri Yo’ng-rae), among others, visited Patriotic Martyrs’ Cemetery in Sinmi-ri.  Floral wreaths sent by Kim Jong Un and a joint presentation by the WPK Central Committee, DPRK State Affairs Commission, SPA Presidium and DPRK Cabinet were delivered to the wreath-laying stand at the cemetery’s entrance.  The senior officials paid their respects “in silent tribute” after which Premier Pak and the other visitors observed a march-past by a KPA honor guard.

WPK Vice Chairman and State Affairs Commission Vice Chairman Choe Ryong Hae (Ch’oe Ryong-hae), KPA Senior Adviser and Operations Command Group member VMar Ri Myong Su (Ri Myo’ng-su), WPK Vice Chairman for Science and Education Pak Thae Song (Pak T’ae-so’ng), WPK Vice Chairman for Workers’ and Social Organizations Choe Hwi and WPK Agricultural Department Director Ri Chol Man, among others, visited the Fatherland Liberation (Korean) War Martyrs Cemetery.  A floral wreath from Kim Jong Un and a joint floral wreath sent by the WPK Central Committee, the WPK Central Military Commission [CMC] and the State Affairs Commission was delivered to the wreath laying stand in front of the war memorial monument at the cemetery’s entrance.  A KPA brass band played solemn music and members of the central leadership paid their respects in front of the floral wreaths.  After, Choe Ryong Hae and the other senior officials observed a march past by KPA service members.

During the wreath laying ceremonies, floral wreaths from the Ministry of the People’s Armed Forces, the Ministry of People’s Security, workers’ and social organizations, DPRK Cabinet ministries and commissions, various national institutions, units of the KPA and Korean People’s International Security Forces, research, science, education, media and public health institutions, WPK and DPRK Government institution and farms, factories and other Pyongyang-based production units were also delivered.
