A ceremony was held on October 27 (Friday) to formally open the Sep’o Stockbreeding Zone in Kangwo’n Province. Development of the stockbreeding area was initially an expansion of pre-existing stock farms whose construction was ordered by Kim Il Sung. The expansion of the farms was initiated under late DPRK leader Kim Jong Il (Kim Cho’ng-il) and began in late 2012 following a visit by former DPRK Premier Choe Yong Rim.
Attending the ceremony was DPRK Premier and State Affairs Commission Vice Chairman Pak Pong Ju (Pak Pong-chu), Workers’ Party of Korea [WPK] Vice Chairman Pak Thae Dok (Pak T’ae-dok), DPRK Vice Premier and Minister of Agriculture Ko In Ho (Ko In-ho), Kangwo’n WPK Provincial Committee Chairman Pak Jong Nam (Pak Cho’ng-nam), DPRK Cabinet and state institutional officials, cadres of the Kangwo’n WPK Provincial Committee and Kangwo’n Provincial People’s Committee, Korean People’s Army [KPA] service members and representatives of the Construction Shock Brigade #922

Pak Pong Ju delivered a speech in which he said that “the conversion of Sep’o area into a big livestock farming base which will be greatly helpful to the improvement of the people’s standard of living is another great auspicious event in the era of the WPK in which a long-cherished desire of the Korean people to enjoy a rich and happy life comes true.”
In Pak’s speech stress was placed on “the need to set in a proper way the goal and plan for keeping the production at the livestock farming base on a high level and normal basis so that the Party’s love and benevolence can be reached to the people in actuality.”
