KCI Conducts First Field Inspection of 2011

The DPRK media reports that Kim Cho’ng-il visited the command of KPA Unit 6556, his reported field inspection in 2011.  KCI’s first and last field inspections of 2010 were conducted at the 105th Tank Division.

From KCNA:

He was greatly satisfied to see all servicepersons of the unit performing their guard duty in a responsible manner, closely following the enemies’ moves for aggression. He appreciated their efforts and set forth important tasks to be fulfilled by the unit to boost its combat capability in everyway.

Going round the rooms for the study of military affairs, he acquainted himself with commanding officers’ training.

He noted with satisfaction that the unit is preparing all its commanding officers as competent officers capable of skillfully organizing and commanding any difficult combat duty in a modern warfare. He underscored the need for the unit to thoroughly establish the revolutionary trait of training so that all the commanding officers may acquire commanding ability as required by the modern warfare.

He looked round soldiers’ hall and other cultural and educational facilities to learn about how the political work is conducted among soldiers there.

Kim Cho’ng-il also toured the Jongsong Combined Medical Institute.  Xinhua English reports:

During his inspection at a command post of the 6556 Unit of the KPA, Kim, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and chairman of the DPRK National Defense Commission, asked KPA commanders to grasp masterly commanding skills to suit the need of the modern wars in the inspection.

It is reported that Kim also inspected the newly constructed Jongsong Combined Medical Institute of the KPA. He called on its scientists, technicians and workers to actively develop medicines and introduce them to production, underlining the need to massively produce varieties of medicines, upgrade their quality and decisively improve their packing.

During the inspection, he was accompanied by Chief of the KPA General Staff Ri Yong Ho, Kim Jong Un, who is a member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, and several other senior officials
