Lt. Gen. Kim Yong Ho

Lieutenant General Kim Yong Ho (Kim Yo’ng-ho) is commander of the Guard Department.  Lt. Gen. Kim is also an alternate (candidate) member of the Workers’ Party of Korea [WPK] Central Committee, elected during the 8th Party Congress.  Lt. Gen. Kim is a former Guard Command brigade commander.  The Guard Department is headquartered near Ku’msusan Palace of the Sun [KPS] and links directly to the Pyongyang Defense Command’s [PDC] Chungdo Brigade (a/k/a KPA Unit #113).  It consists of several divisions of the Guard Command which protect the buildings and infrastructure where Kim Jong Un (KJU; Kim Cho’ng-u’n) is present–his offices, residential compounds and locales he is visiting–forming the second-to third protective ring around the leader.
