A monumental architectural complex imbued with the ardent sentiments of the entire people of the country—who will long pass down the star‑like, shining feats of the overseas military operations heroes who unhesitatingly devoted their one and only lives for the immortal honor and boundless prosperity of our great motherland, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea—has risen majestically, unfolding its distinctive grandeur at a prime site in the Hwasong district of the capital Pyongyang, as Saeppyol Street.

With the noble intention of eternally illuminating the precious lives of the excellent sons of the motherland, Comrade Kim Jong Un initiated the construction of a new street for the bereaved families of the fallen soldiers, personally bestowed its name, and energetically guided the entire construction process so that every element of the buildings would reflect the warm sincerity of our Party and state toward the blood relatives left behind by the fallen heroes.

The dazzling panorama of distinctive architectural groups—where high‑rise and mid‑rise residential buildings that perfectly combine sculptural beauty, artistic quality, practicality, and convenience stand in ideal harmony with public buildings including commercial and service facilities—is an immortal tableau condensing the lofty moral obligation and blazing love of our Party. It raises not only the heroes whom the whole country respects and venerates, but also their bereaved families, together onto the platform of honor, enabling them to fully enjoy the beautiful life of the motherland that the martyrs defended at the cost of their lives.

The completion ceremony of Saeppyol Street was held grandly on February 15.

The ceremony venue was filled with endless excitement, resonating with the deep emotion and joy of the soldier‑builder units and civilians who, upholding the will and intention of the Party Central Committee, raised this magnificent new street, and of the bereaved families who, amid nationwide blessings, would open a new chapter of life in their new homes.

The Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un attended the completion ceremony.

He was greeted by commanders of the Korean People’s Army overseas operations units.

Warmly meeting with the commanders and exchanging greetings, Comrade Kim Jong Un conveyed his militant salutations to all service members of the overseas operations units.

All participants raised impassioned cheers toward the great fatherly leader who, with blazing blood‑bonded affection, places the war heroes and their bereaved families at the pinnacle of glory and unfolds a grand history of noble love and moral obligation.

Present at the ceremony were senior officials of the Party, government, and military; members of the Party Central leadership bodies; families of fallen soldiers; combatants and engineering troops dispatched to overseas military operations; commanders and service members of all levels of the People’s Army; builders; faculty and students of revolutionary academies; and citizens of Pyongyang.

Comrade Kim Jong Un delivered a speech commemorating the completion.

Expressing his deep emotion on this meaningful day when Saeppyol Street is inscribed as a new address of our capital, upheld by the fervent wishes of the motherland, he stated that the completion of the street bearing the name “Saeppyol,” which has taken root in everyone’s hearts as a synonym for the radiant lives of the war veterans, is a moving moment that embodies the strength of Korea, symbolizes the greatness of the Korean people, and records in Pyongyang’s history the most heroic era that defended sacred dignity and honor.

He said that Saeppyol Street is the pride of our generation, the pride of Pyongyang, and the pride of our state. On this day of completion, which will leave the names and images of the fallen heroes for eternity, he expressed his heartfelt wish for the immortality of the martyrs and for this street—where their noble spirits dwell and the nation’s reverence converges—to always overflow with happiness and joy.

Comrade Kim Jong Un cut the completion ribbon.

At that moment, amid thunderous cheers, celebratory fireworks erupted and countless balloons bearing five‑pointed stars soared into the sky.

Housing use certificates were presented to the bereaved families of the fallen soldiers.

Comrade Kim Jong Un, together with senior officials of the Party, government, and military, personally handed the housing certificates issued in the name of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea to the families.

Bearing a painful sense of sorrow and apology for not being able to present the valiant sons of the motherland back to their parents and families, yet endlessly bestowing ocean‑like love and affection, the benevolent father moved the bereaved families to tears, as they respectfully expressed their gratitude.

As the dignified national flag of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea fluttered high across Saeppyol Street, a commemorative performance shook the area.

Songs that stirred boundless respect and noble reverence for the martyrs—who demonstrated to the world the combat power of our army through unparalleled mass heroism and self‑sacrificing spirit, and who faithfully carried out the motherland’s orders at the cost of their lives—powerfully moved the hearts of all participants.

When the national anthem of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, which our heroes had sung from the depths of their hearts on every decisive battlefield in fervent prayer for the eternal prosperity of our state, resounded solemnly, the hearts of the participants burned with determination to devote all patriotic passion to further shining the dignity and honor of the motherland defended by the martyrs with their lives.

On Saeppyol Street, where the Supreme Commander’s sky‑high benevolence pours out all the affection and love that could not be fully given to the fallen heroes and bestows endless happiness and glory upon their families, a deeply moving tableau of great love and moral obligation unfolded from home to home.

Comrade Kim Jong Un met with the bereaved families who would be moving into the new homes.

He said that upon completing a street for the families of the fallen heroes, the heroic images of the combatants—who, even in the face of death, ended their lives praying for the revival of the motherland and the prosperity of Pyongyang—come vividly to mind, and that making this land, imbued with their wishes and spirits, ever more prosperous, beautiful, secure, and radiant is the greatest tribute to their noble lives.

He emphasized that caring for the destiny and livelihood of the parents who raised, and the spouses who supported, those war veterans—models of patriotism and heroes among heroes who sought no reward and willingly sacrificed even their precious lives to obey the orders of the motherland—is the rightful duty and sacred mission of our Party and government.

Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the home of Kim Jong Ok, wife of fallen hero O Tae Chol, personally inspecting the living rooms and kitchen and listening, with the heart of a true parent, to the family’s impressions of receiving their new home.

He said that receiving a good home would naturally bring thoughts of her husband even more strongly, urged her to overcome her sorrow as soon as possible and live happily, and blessed the future of her son, who studies at the Mangyo’ngdae Revolutionary School, wishing that he would follow in his father’s footsteps and become a fine person.

He also visited the home of Mun Ryong Mo and Ryu Sung Nam, a couple who devoted their twin sons to the motherland, saying that it is because of such patriotic families that our state remains firm and advances without pause along the single road of strength and prosperity.

He said that from now on the Party and government will take full responsibility for caring for the bereaved families and expressed his hope that they would enjoy long‑lasting happiness in their good homes, leaving behind a heartfelt tableau of love overflowing with familial affection.

Comrade Kim Jong Un also visited the family of Kim Tong Chun, a double Hero of the Republic, warmly blessing the bereaved family who, overwhelmed with emotion at their dreamlike happiness, offered endless thanks.

He said that now the families can settle in the capital and enjoy first the beautiful life of the motherland, and that this seems to ease, even slightly, the long‑held anguish in his heart. He emphasized that the war heroes who rendered great exploits to be recorded forever in history for the eternal prosperity and strength of our state, and their families, rightly deserve the highest honor and respect bestowed by the country and the people.

He repeatedly stressed that officials of the Party and state organs must firmly grasp the preferential treatment and special benefits for the families of fallen heroes as an important policy matter, thoroughly implement them, and always pay close attention to the families’ lives so that not even the slightest inconvenience occurs.

Saeppyol Street, overflowing with the great father’s familial affection, grew ever warmer as time passed.

The bereaved families, now owners of the new street, looked around their happy new homes.

As they toured the houses—equipped with the finest living conditions—they felt, with all their hearts, how immense the Marshal’s benevolence and our Party’s love truly are.

Saeppyol District, the crystallization of our Party’s and people’s eternal gratitude and respect for the heroes who fought in overseas military operations, will forever shine as a new legend of love and loyalty blossoming in the great Kim Jong Un era, radiating its noble significance for generations to come.
