Circus Performance Marking 15 August
Amid the joy and excitement overflowing across the country as the people celebrate the meaningful day that marked the proud birth of our great new homeland, a National Circus Troupe combined acrobatic performance in celebration of the 81st anniversary of national liberation was held on August 16 at the Pyongyang Circus Theater.
Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, watched the performance.
As the welcoming music played and Comrade Kim Jong Un appeared in the theater’s viewing area, a fiery roar of “Manse!” erupted, shaking the venue.
Comrade Kim Jong Un extended warm congratulations to all the people across the country and the soldiers of the entire army, who are creating a new era of comprehensive development with unwavering love for our precious and sacred homeland and with confidence and optimism in our cause, on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of national liberation.
Members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, along with officials of the Party and government, children of anti‑Japanese revolutionary martyrs and anti‑Japanese patriotic martyrs, faculty and students of revolutionary schools, officials of ministries, central organs, and military institutions, workers from factories and enterprises in the capital, labor innovators, and youth and students watched the performance.
The national anthem of the DPRK was played.
The stage featured a variety of acts, including the strength acrobatics “Iron Bar Balancing” and “Fly Higher,” which have won top prizes at international circus festivals.
Elegant folk acrobatic pieces full of rich emotion and vibrant energy, along with high‑difficulty and refined acrobatic acts, vividly displayed the ever‑blossoming development of our circus art.
Unique magic performances by a magician beloved by our people immersed the audience in a world of mysterious illusion.
The performance, which unfolded in a succession of nail‑biting suspense, amazement, and cheerful laughter, received enthusiastic acclaim from the spectators.
Comrade Kim Jong Un expressed great satisfaction with the performers’ achievements and warmly congratulated them.
Comrade Kim Jong Un met with the creators, artists, and officials of the National Circus Troupe who added joy and romance to the Day of National Liberation through their excellent performance.
He said that the National Circus Troupe is a seasoned artistic collective that, for more than 70 years, has illuminated the honor and prestige of the state through world‑class circus creations and active performance activities, earning the love of our people. He highly appreciated the contributions of the creators and artists who have enriched the development of socialist culture through the unique expressive power of circus art.
Comrade Kim Jong Un expressed his belief and expectation that the creators and artists of the National Circus Troupe, with extraordinary creative talent, high skill, and passionate patriotism, will produce and perform even more excellent circus works welcomed by the times and the people, thereby ushering in a new stage of development and flourishing of circus art. He then took a commemorative photo with them.
