A football match between the Missile General Bureau of the DPRK and the Second Economic Committee was held on September 22.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, watched the match.

The participants, who had achieved valuable successes in implementing the Party’s line on national defense construction through national defense scientific research and production activities — and who had received high trust and appreciation from the Party and the government — were overflowing with immense emotion and joy at being able to hold a meaningful sports and cultural event in the presence of Kim Jong Un.

Kim Jong Un met leading officials of the munitions industry sector and sent warm congratulations and encouragement to the scientific research group of the Missile General Bureau, the Second Economic Committee, and the entire munitions‑industry working class, who are loyally supporting our Party’s self‑defensive national defense policy with unstinting devotion and struggle.

He said that the purpose of organizing today’s sports match was to make it an occasion to commend their efforts and express gratitude.

Pak Jong Chon, Vice Chairman of the WPK Central Military Commission, and secretaries of the WPK Central Committee watched the match.

The football game was played between the Missile General Bureau’s “Hwasong” team and the Second Economic Committee’s “Bonghwa” team.

Kim Jong Un expressed gratitude for the contributions of the national defense science and technology group and the munitions‑industry working class, who are creating unprecedented miracles in the sacred struggle to modernize the Republic’s armed forces and strengthen war‑fighting capabilities, clearly demonstrating the unique development and absolute superiority of our national defense power. He said that the patriotic loyalty and devoted efforts they are showing constitute the most precious contribution — something that cannot be replaced or bought with anything — to the security of the state and its boundless development and prosperity.

Kim Jong Un said that national defense scientists, technicians, and the munitions‑industry working class must further amplify their revolutionary optimism and uplifted spirit, and by their united strength continue to bring about leaps and innovations in strengthening national defense capabilities. In doing so, they must reliably safeguard the DPRK’s absolutely inviolable sovereign security with the superiority of absolute strength, defend peace, and firmly guarantee the endless development of the socialist homeland.

In the great honor of having Kim Jong Un present—the fiercely contested football match for the honor of each unit — ended with the Missile General Bureau’s “Hwasong” team defeating the Second Economic Committee’s “Bonghwa” team 4–1.

The award ceremony was held amid the enthusiastic applause of the participants.

Receiving Kim Jong Un’s ocean‑like trust and militant encouragement, all participants pledged to be even more faithful to the historical mission and duty they bear before the Party, the revolution, the country, and the people, and to firmly build up the strongest national defense capabilities with unwavering loyalty.
