Liberation Tower Wreath Laying

On August 14, on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the Fatherland, Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, visited the Liberation Tower.

He was accompanied by leading officials of the WPK Central Committee and responsible cadres from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defense.

An honor guard of the Korean People’s Army was lined up before the Liberation Tower.

The national anthems of the Russian Federation and the DPRK were played.

As the wreath‑laying music sounded, a wreath in Kim Jong Un’s name was laid.  The ribbon read: “We do not forget the exploits of the Soviet Army martyrs.”

Kim Jong Un paid sublime respect to the Soviet Army martyrs who fought bravely in the liberation struggle of our people for the freedom and independence of the country.

He toured the Liberation Tower together with the accompanying officials.

Reflecting reverently on the combat feats of the Red Army soldiers who shed their warm blood for Korea’s liberation, Kim Jong Un said that even as time passes and generations change, our people will never forget the noble souls of the martyrs resting on this land and their heroic spirit of sacrifice.

Kim Jong Un stated that the fine history, tradition, and blood‑sealed bonds between Korea and Russia today serve as the fundamental cornerstone and inexhaustible driving force of the two countries’ friendly and cooperative relations.

He affirmed that the great friendship and unity between the peoples of the two nations—formed through lofty ideals and genuine militant camaraderie—will be firmly inherited and developed across generations together with the new era of comprehensive flourishing.
