Triplicate: PPJ On-Site Visits

DPRK state media reported on February 2 (Thursday) that State Affairs Commission Vice Chairman and DPRK Premier Pak Pong Ju (Pak Pong-chu) toured Kumso’ng Tractor Factory.

Pak toured the factory and was briefed “in detail about the preparations of 80 hp tractors.” He “encouraged its workers to register bigger successes.” A consultative meeting was held with the factory’s managers and key functionaries during “which measures were taken to update the factory and solve the problems arising in the production.” He also inspected the Pyongyang Thermal Power Complex and called for “maintaining the generating equipment in a qualitative way and fulfilling daily and monthly plans for electricity without fail.”

Prior to these on-site visits, Pak Pong Ju conducted on-site inspections at Kim Jong Suk (Kim Cho’ng-suk) Silk Mill and the recently constructed Pyongyang Bag Factory where he “took measures for boosting the production of consumer goods.”

DPRK state media reported on January 30 (Monday) that Pak Pong Ju conducted an on-site inspection and survey of the Sunch’o’n Cement Complex. During his visit he “encouraged workers of the complex who fluttered the flag of victory at the height of cement production by making massive innovation at the 200-day campaign of loyalty.” A consultative meeting was held which discussed “measures to fully supply cement necessary for various fields of the national economy by carrying out the daily and monthly production plan were taken.” During his visit to Sunch’o’n, Pak toured the Sunch’o’n Nitro-Lime Fertilizer Factory and Sunch’o’n Lagging [insulation and heating materiel] Factory where he “organized the work to keep fertilizer production going at a high rate and produce building materials in good time.”

Prior to that, Pak Pong Ju visited Kim Ch’aek Iron and Steel Complex in North Hamgyo’ng (please see some recent satellite analysis from our partners at 38 North about the complex’s activity). Pak toured various shops at the complex and was briefed about “Chuch’e iron production.” Another consultative meeting with the complex’s managers and chief functionaries which “stressed the need for the workers at the complex to produce more iron and steel and open up a breakthrough in the van for building an economic power.” The meeting also “discussed practical measures.”
