Kim Jong Un’s last observed appearance was his test riding a new subway car on the Pyongyang Metro
DPRK state media reported on November 23 (Monday) that Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) visited the August 25 Fishery Station subordinate to Korean People’s Army [KPA] Unit #313. In attendance were Jo Yong Won (deputy director of the Workers’ Party of Korea [WPK] Finance and Accounting Department), Lt. Gen. Jo Nam Jin (deputy director of the KPA General Political Department and director of the KPA Organization Department) and Han Kwang Sang (immediate past director of the WPK Finance and Accounting Department).
Before looking at mosaic icon of KIS and KJI and touring the station’s revolutionary history room and the fishery station’s historical exhibitions, Jong Un noted “with pleasure that the fishery station has been face-lifted radically as befitting the home of making the history of big fish haul and of Tanp’ung fishing boats.” According to KCNA he said that “officials and employees of the station should always cherish the noble intention of the great leaders and realize their lifetime desire by catching more fishes for the servicepersons and civilians.”
Kim Jong Un toured the fishery station and was briefed about its operations and recent renovation. He remarked, “with great satisfaction that it is laudable that the station has worked such eye-opening miracle as catching fish equivalent to the yearly output of the past just in a day during this winter intensive fishing campaign.” After looking at processing and storage facilities he said “fishermen and their wives are patriotic families as they have made a big haul even in unfavorable conditions and all turned out in a drive for processing fishes” and “expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the station’s modernization was carried out on the highest level.”
According to KCNA, Jong Un said that “what is the most important success in its modernization drive is that the station provided a sure guarantee for supplying fresh fishes to the servicepersons and civilians in every season” and that “the August 25 Fishery Station turned into a model and standard of the nation’s fishery field and worked astounding achievements in a few years, and this is ascribable to the indomitable fighting spirit it fully displayed to implement the Party’s fishing policy.” He also “stressed the need to catch more fishes as well as strictly keep the hygienic principles in unloading, sorting, freezing, storage and supply of fishes and pay deep attention to the protection of aquatic resources.” He also remarked that he ” feels relieved to get fishy smell wafted in the compound of the fishery station, an aroma of the sea in the socialist country” and said “with pleasure that it is a very wonderful and gratifying scenery.”
Jong Un said that “one more fairyland in the era of So’ngun (Military-First), called ‘Conspicuous fish scenery’, could appear in the country thanks to the fishermen devotedly implementing the Party’s policy” and that “the officials and employees of the station are precious revolutionary comrades-in-arms helping with sincerity the Supreme Commander.” At the end of his visit he watched a concert by the August 25 Fishery Station’s art propaganda squad. According to KCNA, Kim Jong Un posed for commemorative photos with the fishery station’s managers and employees and expressed his “belief that the officials and employees of the station would creditably perform their duty with a desire to greet the historic 7th WPK Congress with bigger success in fishing.”
