Central Report Meeting Marking 50th Anniversary of KJI Working at WPK Central Committee

A central report meeting was held on 18 June (Wednesday) at the 25 April House of Culture in Pyongyang to commemorate the 50th anniversary of late leader Kim Jong Il’s (Kim Cho’ng-il) beginning work at the WPK Central Committee.  Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) attended the meeting, which was presided over by WPK Secretary and Supreme People’s Assembly Chairman Choe T’ae Bok.  KJU’s last observed appearance was his inspection of Korean People’s Army [KPA] Navy Unit #167.  Also attending the central report meeting were “leadership cadres of the party, state, and army; chairperson of the friendly party; functionaries of the armed forces organizations,Cabinet, working people’s organizations, ministries, and central organs; exemplary party functionaries; and people of merit” along with “functionaries of the party, armed forces organizations, power organs, public organizations, ministries and central organs; officers and men of the Korean People’s Army and Korean People’s Internal Security Forces; functionaries in the fields of science, education, literature and art, public health and press; labor innovators; and working people of Pyongyang.”

WPK Secretary and Director of the Propaganda and Agitation Department Kim Ki Nam delivered the meeting’s report.  According to KCBS Kim Ki Nam recalled KJI’s “revolutionary achievements in revolution, construction, party building, party work, in the realization of chuch’e revolutionary cause, and reinforcement of military and national defense power over the past 50 years” and he noted  “Kim Jong Un carrying on and developing Kim Jong Il’s ideology and achievements for party building.”  He also noted ” important tasks to bring a new turnabout in the cause for building chuch’e-oriented party and to speed up the final victory in construction of a powerful state under the Kim Jong Un’s leadership that are presented before the people and soldiers today.”  In the report, according to KCBS, Kim “emphasized the party’s ‘monolithic leadership system’ and ‘single-hearted unity'” and issued a call  “to defend Kim Jong Un politically, ideologically and with one’s life.”  Kim Ki Nam concluded the report by “calling all people to vigorously fight for the reinforcement and development of the party, the construction of a powerful state of socialism, and completion of the revolutionary cause of chuch’e while firmly uniting around the party Central Committee headed by Kim Jong Un.”
