New Minister of Culture Appointed

Former Minister of Culture Kang Nung-su

The DPRK has appointed a new Minister of Culture.  Novelist An Tong-chun was selected to replace Kang Nung-su, who had been Minister since June 2006.  An Tong-chun was recently Chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Writers’ Union.  Mr. Kang was not demoted, but has been assigned to another post.
