Kim So-hyun in The Korea Herald has a good report on succession which include a reference to a “morningstar:
Venus, also known as the morning star,” shed an unusually bright light above the Chonji before sunrise.’
North Korean media routinely introduce the natural phenomena on the morning of New Year’s Day, but it is the first time since 2000 they mentioned the morning star.
They also described this year as “a revolutionary year that will be long remembered in the nation’s history for its auspicious event” in the same meteorological reports, suggesting Jong-eun’s status as the successor may become official this year.
