Kim Jong Il Views Art Performance

Pyongyang – Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, enjoyed an art performance given by the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Korean People’s Internal Security Forces at the renovated Ponghwa Art Theatre.
Its colorful performance included “Glory to the Respected Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il”, “Old Home Covered with Snow”, “We Will Hold Our General in High Esteem”, and “Footstep.”
The artistes powerfully demonstrated the might of the internal security forces which have reliably protected the gains of the socialist homeland and people’s security, glorifying the more than six decade-long tradition of devotedly defending the leader.
They, at the same time, successfully represented the firm faith and will of the servicepersons of the internal security forces to defend the Korean-style socialist system centered on the popular masses as firm as a rock.
Kim Jong Il expressed great satisfaction over the splendid performance given by them and extended high appreciation and thanks to them.
After seeing the data on the history of the ensemble, he said that it has given full play to the might of the revolutionary soldiers art unit by successfully preserving the characteristics peculiar to it over the past more than six decades since the founding of its predecessor the Band of the Bureau of the Interior right after the liberation of Korea. Noting that it has produced many revolutionary and talented creators and artistes in this period, he highly appreciated its feats.
He set forth important tasks to serve as guidelines for art creation.Accompanying him were Kim Jong Un, Ri Yong Ho, Kim Ki Nam, Kim Kyong Hui, Kang Sok Ju, Ju Sang Song, Jang Song Thaek, Kim Jong Gak, Kim Yang Gon, Pak To Chun, Thae Jong Su, Mun Kyong Dok, Ju Kyu Chang, Kim Chang Sop, senior officials of the party, state and armed forces organs, servicepersons of the KPA and the KPISF and officials in the field of culture and art.
