New N. Hamgyong Party Chief

O Su Yong is the new Chief KWP Secretary in North Hamgyong.  O’s new position was identified in a 4 September KCNA report about the election of delegates to the 3rd Party Conference.  From 2009 to 2010 O Su Yong was a Vice Premier.  He was recalled from his position at the 3rd plenum of the 12th SPA in June.  For a number of years O Su Yong was Minister of Electronic Industry.  O also worked in the Ministry of Metal Industry and the Ministry of Machine Building Industries.

O Su Yong  replaces Hong Sok Hyong, now a department director in the  CC KWP.  O is the second Vice Premier recalled at the SPA plenum in June who was appointed as a provincial party chief.   Kwak Pom Gi, who had served as Vice Premier (since 1998), is now Chief KWP Secretary in South Hamgyong.  Kwak replaced Tae Jong Su, who was also appointed a CC KWP director.  Tae and Hong Sok Hyong were reported to have traveled to China with KJI in August 2010.

Speeches proposing the election of General Secretary Kim Jong Il as delegate to the WPK conference were made at the meetings by Kwak Pom Gi, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK who is delegate of the party organization of the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex, O Su Yong, chief secretary of the North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK who is delegate of the party organization of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, Paek Kye Ryong, chief secretary of the Kangwon Provincial Committee of the WPK who is delegate of the party organization of Munchon City, and Rim Kyong Man, chief secretary of the Rason City Committee of the WPK who is delegate of the party organization of Rajin Port.
